Today, we celebrate the first Heroes Day of the year.
The term "Mother" is granted to woman who is legally classified as a parent, either through biology or paperwork. Trolls use this definition to deny some women that title. And some women with the title refuse or fail the presumed responsibilities that title may or may not bestow.
But every woman—by any definition of "woman"—who shoulders those responsibilities, who put the needs of others ahead of themselves, who see the world as one family who needs them, who love and support those who need it, and who help the young grow and the nurture the sick to health, are—by every definition—heroes, and that cannot be denied.
Today, I celebrate the Hero who supported me in my greatest needs: my mother, to whom I dedicated my first ever Anthology.
